For many of us, January is time for setting resolutions and goals for the year to come, and here at HHS we are no different. We’ve got big plans and we’re sure that this is going to be a fantastic year.

To get a better picture of what’s coming up, we sat down with Chief Operating Officer Bobby Floyd to learn about what to expect from HHS in 2016.

1. Continued focus on technology solutions to automate processes and give time back to managers.
HHS has developed a new mobile-based technology for evaluating competencies for new employees. These “electronic competencies” can be done on the floor in real-time and will save significant time and resources over the current process, which is done manually on paper.  This new technology will eventually be rolled out for all service lines, beginning with EVS in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

HHS will also implement a new food management system for all of our culinary partnerships. Fulcrum, a cloud-based food supply chain management tool, will handle all of the ordering, menus, recipes, calendars, nutrition information and more for our culinary teams. The simple, time saving system allows chefs and managers to choose a recipe and quantity, and the system will automatically order all the necessary ingredients to prepare the dish. We plan to implement this new system for all culinary partnerships over the next few months.

Over the course of 2015, we rolled out new kiosks at every job site and we will be leveraging this technology even more in 2016. Each new account receives a package of 5-10 new kiosks to assist with the start-up and implementation of services. The kiosks are used by new team members to complete their onboarding and initial training, and also serve as a platform for in-servicing for all team members. We will continue to develop and improve the type of information available to team members through this technology throughout the course of the year, based on feedback from our team members and department leaders alike.

In addition to the kiosks, HHS rolled out electronic messaging boards (EMBs) at every facility in 2015.  We plan to expand the use of these EMBs in 2016, providing more useful resources and incorporating team member success stories and other fun elements to help better connect each individual partner facility with the greater HHS family.

2. Investment and continued improvement to training across all service lines.
Throughout the course of 2015, HHS worked diligently to update and improve our training materials. We have developed a more patient-centered training system and made it more interactive and engaging for team members. We have also been working on filming brand new training videos, in both English and Spanish, which will be rolled out over the course of 2016.

3. Growth of our diversifications.
While HHS was established 40 years ago as a provider of EVS services, our continued focus on healthcare and reducing costs while improving support service delivery and quality outcomes has led to a number of opportunities for HHS to better serve our partners.  We have developed exciting and innovative culinary, linen, facilities, senior living and patient sitter programs all of which we plan to continue to develop and expand in 2016.

4. Stability in growth and increase in opportunities.
The past year was tremendous for HHS. We restructured some of our leadership roles and were flexible and adaptive to change, leaving us with more stability and a better operational structure going into the new year. We’ve developed some great new opportunities for employee development, including promoting three Culinary Directors to Market Managers. The positions, which create a leadership role over all accounts within a specific metro area, will be expanded to our EVS services, with two directors being promoted to EVS Market Managers in the coming months. These new positions establish a clear pathway to leadership for some of our strongest directors and we are excited to be able to further develop and promote from within. We’ve found our footing with some of our newer service lines and are excited to have a solid foundation to build on in the new year as we continue to develop these new solutions and service offerings.

In addition to structural changes, we’re planning on expanding our communication platforms in 2016, beginning with a regular blog posting schedule. We’ll be updating the HHS blog every other Wednesday, and we’ll be posting on our sister blog at on alternating Wednesdays as well. We’ll be covering the latest company and industry news and developments, as well as a variety of topics that are relevant to the healthcare market as a whole. You’ll get to know the HHS family better with interviews and posts by executives, as well as some of our wonderful front-line team members.
